Upgrades from Single Coated or Lower Tack Tapes

Switching to this double coated construction is worth it when bonding two similar or dissimilar surfaces simultaneously without a carrier liner. The rubber adhesive delivers 50 oz/in of adhesion and 7 lbs/in tensile strength for immediate grab and holding power. The 100% elongation allows the tape to stretch and conform during application without snapping. This jump makes sense for high speed splicing lines where dwell time is minimal.

Limits of Rubber Adhesive and Polyethylene Film

The rubber adhesive performs within a -5 to 140 degree Fahrenheit range, so it is not suited for sustained high heat or extreme cold beyond those limits. Polyethylene film lacks UV stabilisers, so prolonged outdoor exposure will degrade the backing and adhesive. The tape is not designed for structural bonding, load bearing joints, or surfaces contaminated with oils or plasticisers. Users needing archival permanence or solvent resistance should select a different adhesive chemistry.
