Roof Curb Adapter for Downblast Fans

This galvanized steel adapter connects a 29 1/2 in fan base to a 24 in roof curb. It suits downblast, filtered supply and upblast fans where the existing curb is smaller than the new fan footprint. The 18 ga steel construction provides structural rigidity across the 5 in overall height. Included 1/4-20 Tinnerman speed nuts and bolts simplify the mechanical attachment.

Interface Limits of the Reducer Design

The adapter reduces the fan-side width from 29 1/2 in to a 24 in curb-side width in a single step. This fixed geometry means the unit cannot accommodate curbs larger than 24 in or fan bases smaller than 29 1/2 in. The 2 1/2 in top flange height and two fasteners per side set the clamping pattern; no additional drilling or shimming is accounted for in the design.

Confirm the roof curb outside dimension is exactly 24 in and the replacement fan base measures 29 1/2 in square. Ensure the existing curb height and flange profile accept a 5 in overall adapter height without interfering with flashing or roof membrane. Check that the 1/4-20 fastener pattern aligns with pre-drilled holes on both the curb and fan base.
