What this valve does

This Dayton solenoid valve body controls fluid flow in a two-way, two-position configuration that is normally open. It is built for corrosive indoor and outdoor environments where a stainless steel body resists chemical attack. The 1/4 inch nominal pipe size suits compact piping runs in plumbing and process systems. Buyers who need a normally closed default or a larger flow path will need a different valve body.

Pressure and temperature envelope

The valve operates from zero pressure differential up to 150 psi for air, inert gas or water. Maximum fluid temperature is 180 degrees Fahrenheit, so steam or high-temperature process fluids beyond that limit are outside the rated range. The 1/16 inch orifice and Cv of 0.09 restrict flow to low-volume applications. Systems requiring higher pressure, higher temperature or substantially greater flow capacity cannot use this body.

Capacity and headroom

With a Cv of 0.09 the valve comfortably handles metering, sampling or pilot-line duties where precise low flow is required. The 1/16 inch orifice becomes the bottleneck once demand exceeds what that coefficient can pass, so high-volume drainage or rapid fill cycles will starve downstream equipment. The stainless construction gives headroom against corrosion but does not increase the hydraulic limit.
