Adapter for RTX 30 Series GPUs

This COMeap adapter converts two PCIe 8 pin female connections from a power supply into a single mini 12 pin male plug for the graphics card. It targets builders adding an RTX 30 series card to an existing non-modular or semi-modular PSU. The 9.5-inch length suits compact routing inside the case. Two cables are included for multi-GPU setups or spares.

Build quality and daily use

The cable uses 1007-18AWG tin-coated copper wire with a black jacket. Self-adhesive tape is supplied for securing the run. Connectors are keyed: dual 8 pin female ends attach to the PSU cables, while the mini 12 pin male end seats into the GPU. The design works only with PSUs that have fixed or semi-modular PCIe 8 pin male leads; it will not connect to fully-modular PSU ports. Misconnection to a motherboard or CPU header will cause damage.

Upgrade path and when to buy

This adapter replaces the need for a new power supply when the current unit lacks a native mini 12 pin output but provides two PCIe 8 pin connectors. The jump is worth it when installing an RTX 3090, 3080, 3070, 3060 or 3050 into a system with a compatible non-modular or semi-modular PSU. It is not for builders whose PSU is fully modular, nor for cards that use standard 8 pin or 12VHPWR connectors.
