Test Ball Plug for 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 in Pipes

The Cherne 270016 is a pneumatic test ball plug designed to seal drain lines during pressure testing. It fits pipe inside diameters from 1.17 in to 1.75 in, corresponding to nominal pipe sizes of 1-1/4 in to 1-1/2 in. The HAWA construction provides durability for repeated jobsite use. A tire valve air connection allows inflation with standard equipment.

Deflated profile fits through cleanouts

At 1.1 in deflated diameter and 5.5 in deflated length, the plug passes through restricted access points before inflation. The textured body surface resists slippage inside the pipe once pressurized. A head tether with ring and chain secures the plug during installation and retrieval. No bypass connection is fitted, so the line remains fully sealed during the test.

Replaces mechanical expanding plugs for faster setup

Inflation eliminates the need to tighten wing nuts or bolts inside the pipe, reducing labour time on vertical or overhead runs. The jump is worth it when testing multiple sections in a day or when access limits the use of hand tools. It is not suited for pipes smaller than 1-1/4 in or larger than 1-1/2 in nominal size.
