82 mm lens protection filter

The Canon 82 mm protection filter fits directly onto the front thread of compatible lenses to shield the front element from dust, moisture and accidental scratches. It adds no visible colour shift or contrast change so image quality remains unaffected. The neutral design allows it to stay on the lens permanently or to be stacked with other filters.

Upgrading from an unprotected front element

Without a filter the front glass is exposed to fingerprints, rain splatter and impact damage that can require costly element replacement. The jump is worth it when lenses are used outdoors, in crowded events or in any situation where the front element could be touched or knocked. Photographers who always shoot with a lens hood and never remove the lens cap may not need the extra layer.

Simple screw-on installation

The filter threads onto the 82 mm front thread in seconds and requires no tools or adapters. Over-tightening can make removal difficult and may bind the threads so only finger-tight pressure is needed. Vignetting is unlikely but can appear on ultra-wide lenses when multiple filters are stacked.
