Replacement battery for iPod Nano 6th generation

This 3.7 V 110 mAh lithium-polymer cell is built as a direct replacement for the original Apple 616-0531 battery used in the sixth-generation iPod Nano. It supplies the same voltage and capacity in a black, rectangular pack measuring 35.06 by 15.49 by 2.27 mm. The part is new and rated 100 % OEM compatible.

Installation notes

Fitting the cell requires opening the Nano's sealed aluminium chassis, which involves heat, thin pry tools and careful separation of the adhesive-secured display assembly. The original battery is soldered to the logic board, so a soldering iron and fine-pitch soldering skill are needed to remove the old leads and attach the new ones. The main risk is damaging the fragile display flex cables or the glass panel during disassembly.

Practical limits

The 110 mAh capacity restores the player's original runtime but cannot extend it beyond the factory specification. The lithium-polymer chemistry will still degrade with charge cycles and age, so long-term capacity loss is unavoidable. The pack has no built-in fuel-gauge circuitry beyond what the iPod already provides, so the device's own battery meter remains the only state-of-charge indicator.
