Indoor rating and gauge limits define application

The SJT jacket is not rated for wet or outdoor environments; exposure to moisture or direct weather requires an SJTW-rated cord instead. At 14 AWG the maximum supported current is 15 A, so equipment drawing more than that — such as 20 A industrial gear — would need a heavier 12 AWG cord. Conversely, lighter loads below 10 A could use thinner 18 AWG or 16 AWG cables, but this cord is built for the 15 A ceiling.
