The BZBGEAR BG-CAB-U3A50 is a USB 3.0 Type-A male to female active optical cable that extends SuperSpeed connections up to 50 metres. It converts the electrical USB data signal to an 850nm optical signal over fiber, enabling full 5Gbps bandwidth where standard copper cables would fail. The cable supports UASP functionality on Windows 11, 10 and 8 hosts and draws power from the host port, so no external adapter is required. It is intended for integrators and professionals who need reliable long-distance USB 3.0 links.

Sustained Load Behaviour

Because the signal travels as light, the cable maintains the full 5Gbps transfer rate across the entire 50 metre length without the signal degradation seen in passive copper runs. The integrated optical transceiver includes a VCSEL transmitter and PIN photo-detector receiver designed for continuous operation. Over-current protection guards the host port during extended sessions with self-powered peripherals. Installation Notes

The cable plugs directly into a USB 3.0 Type-A host port and accepts any USB 3.0 Type-A device; it is not compatible with USB 2.0 or 1.1 devices, so older peripherals will not function. Only self-powered peripherals are supported because the cable relies on the host for its own power and cannot supply bus power to downstream devices. No drivers or external power supply are needed on supported Windows versions. The fixed 50 metre length cannot be shortened or joined, so cable routing must be planned before deployment.
