Ground clamp for copper conductors

The Burndy pipe ground clamp connects a single grounding wire to pipe, rod or rebar. It accepts solid conductors from 4 AWG up to 3/0 AWG and stranded conductors from 5 AWG up to 2/0 AWG. The copper body is UL listed for direct burial under standard 467.

Fits 2 1/2 in pipe and 2 1/2 to 2 7/8 in rod

The clamp mounts on pipe with a nominal diameter of 2 1/2 inches or on ground rods and rebar ranging from 2 1/2 to 2 7/8 inches. This range lets the same fitting serve water-pipe electrodes and driven ground rods without changing hardware. One conductor lands under the set screw, freeing the installer from running a separate bonding jumper.

Replaces split-bolt or exothermic connections

Mechanical clamps of this type replace time-consuming split-bolt assemblies or irreversible exothermic welds when a removable, inspectable connection is required. The jump is worth it on service entrances, transformer pads or telecom shelters where the grounding electrode must be verified or changed without cutting the conductor. It is not for installations that require multiple conductors under one clamp or for use with aluminium grounding wire.
