SDI to Audio 4K converter
The Blackmagic Design Mini Converter SDI to Audio 4K de-embeds four channels of balanced analog audio or eight channels of AES/EBU digital audio from any SD, HD, 3G or 6G-SDI signal. It supports video formats up to 4096 x 2160p30 and 3840 x 2160p30 with automatic input detection and reclocking. Configuration is handled by onboard mini switches or via USB using the included Mac and Windows utility. A universal 12 V power supply with international adapters is included.
Replaces embedded-audio extraction workflows
This unit replaces the need for a separate de-embedder and distribution amplifier when you only need the audio portion of an SDI stream. The jump is worth it when moving from SD or HD infrastructure to 3G or 6G-SDI and you require simultaneous analog and digital outputs with redundant input failover. It is not suited for installations that need video routing, format conversion, or more than eight audio channels from a single link.
Limited to single-link SDI bandwidth
The converter operates within the constraints of single-link 6G-SDI, so 4K sources above 30 fps or 12G-SDI signals are not supported. Audio is fixed at 48 kHz 24-bit sampling with no sample-rate conversion, and the USB port serves only for firmware updates and configuration, not for audio streaming. The 12–31 V DC input range allows battery or rack power, but the device provides no genlock reference or timecode pass-through.
