What this converter does

The Black Box AVSC-HDMI-VGA converts a digital HDMI signal with embedded audio into an analogue VGA video signal plus stereo analogue or digital SPDIF audio. It is controlled through a USB on-screen display or physical push buttons and includes intelligent colour adjustment. The unit enables newer HDMI sources such as DVD players or modern graphics cards to drive older VGA monitors and sinks. HDCP-protected content will not pass because VGA cannot handle the protocol.

This scaler suits anyone connecting an HDMI-only source to a legacy VGA display while also extracting audio to separate analogue or digital outputs. It is not for users who need to pass HDCP-encrypted material to a VGA screen, nor for installations that require HDMI output or upscaling beyond the capabilities stated in the specifications.
