The DSR-590 is a handheld VHF two-way radio operating on the 136-174MHz marine band with 5 watts of output power. It provides up to 128 programmable channels for organised fleet communication. Continuous transmission at 5 watts is supported by the 7.4V 1400mAh Li-ion pack, maintaining consistent RF output during extended watches. The receiver holds adjacent-channel selectivity at -65 dB, keeping nearby traffic from bleeding into active conversations. CTCSS and DCS encode and decode functions filter out unwanted squelch breaks across all 128 channels. Scanning cycles through the full bank without interrupting the monitored frequency.

Thermal balance and power efficiency in hand

The metal body acts as a heat spreader, keeping the radio comfortable during long transmit periods without a fan. Audio output stays below 0.5 watts with distortion under 7 percent, so cabin noise does not demand excessive volume. The 50-ohm antenna impedance matches the supplied whip for efficient radiation.
