An audible alarm and colour-coded screen activate at ninety-nine point five degrees Fahrenheit: a single beep with an orange display below the threshold, three short beeps with a red display above it. The measurement range spans thirty-two point five to forty-two point five degrees Celsius with a tolerance of plus or minus zero point two degrees within the core range.

Simple Setup and Common Issues

Insert two AAA batteries, which are not supplied, then point the sensor at the forehead within the specified distance and press the trigger. The unit powers off automatically after fifteen seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life. Accuracy can drift if the sensor window is dirty, if ambient temperature falls outside the stated operating window, or if the device is used outside the thirty-five to forty-two degree core range where tolerance widens to plus or minus zero point three degrees.
