The Baader Planetarium AstroSolar ECO-Size Safety Film provides a secure method for direct solar observation and imaging. It filters out 99.999% of intense sunlight with an optical density of 5.0 for maximum protection. The 140x155mm sheet includes DIY instructions and a cutting template for custom filter creation. Suitable for visual viewing and high-resolution solar photography with telescopes or binoculars.

Custom Fit for Optical Equipment

The supplied template allows the film to be cut precisely for various telescopes and binoculars, integrating directly into a custom solar filter cell. This adaptability frees the observer from fixed-size proprietary filters while maintaining telescope-quality performance. The film achieves Strehl ratios between 94 to 96 percent in interferometric tests, delivering sharpness comparable to high-end Fluorite Triplet Lenses. No additional optical elements are required beyond the user's existing optics and a fabricated holder.

Optical Density 5.0 Capacity

Optical density 5.0 comfortably handles visual solar observation and detailed imaging of sunspots and solar flares with high contrast. The 140x155mm dimensions provide sufficient material for multiple filters or a single large aperture, though very large instruments may require a larger sheet. The film is not intended for use without additional optics or for applications requiring lower optical density for brighter solar disk rendering.
