86mm Clear Protective Filter

The B+W 86mm Master 007M Clear MRC Nano Filter protects front lens elements from dust, sand and moisture. Multi-coated glass reduces reflections and glare to preserve contrast. A hydrophobic coating repels water and dirt for easier cleaning. The colour-neutral design maintains optical fidelity without colour shift.

Standard Mount Compatibility Limits

The filter uses a standard 86mm thread mount that fits lenses with the same diameter. It will not attach to lenses with smaller or larger filter threads without a step-up or step-down adapter. Vignetting may occur on ultra-wide-angle lenses at their widest focal lengths. The physical thickness of the filter ring can restrict the use of some lens caps or hoods.

Optical Protection Headroom

The filter comfortably handles everyday environmental hazards such as rain, sea spray, sand and fingerprint smudges. It runs out of protection against heavy mechanical impact that would shatter the glass or deform the mount. The multi-coating resists cleaning marks but cannot prevent scratches from abrasive particles wiped across the surface. It does not reduce light loss or flare caused by strong light sources outside the image frame.
