What this interface does

The Axxess AXGM-07 lets you install an aftermarket stereo in select 2005-2006 GM vehicles while keeping the factory OnStar and OE Bluetooth systems active. It supplies 12-volt 10-amp accessory power and retains Retained Accessory Power so the radio stays on after the key is removed. Adjustable gain controls let you match chime and OnStar volume levels. High-level speaker inputs simplify the connection.

When it replaces the factory radio

This module is used when you remove the original head unit in a non-amplified system or when you are replacing an amplified system with an aftermarket deck. It provides the NAV outputs — parking brake, reverse, mute and speed sense — that many replacement stereos require. The jump is worth it when you want modern features without losing safety chimes, balance and fade control, or OnStar functionality. USB updatable firmware keeps compatibility current.

Limits of the vehicle-specific design

The interface only works with the listed 2005-2006 GM applications, so it cannot be used in other model years or brands. It does not add amplification; it simply passes high-level signals and data. If the vehicle uses a fibre-optic or low-level data bus not supported by this module, OnStar retention will not function. Buyers needing integration for newer GM models or different data protocols will need a different interface.
