The Audio-Technica FV2 is a passive stereo RCA switch with an integrated volume control. It accepts two line-level sources and routes one to a single output such as a power amplifier or active monitors. Because it adds no gain and requires no power supply, it suits listeners who want transparent level adjustment without adding active circuitry to the signal path.

Capacity and headroom: two sources, one output

The unit provides two RCA input pairs and one RCA output pair, letting you select between sources with the front toggle switch. The 10K input impedance matches typical line outputs cleanly, and the A10K potentiometer gives smooth attenuation. It cannot boost a weak signal, drive headphones directly, or sum both inputs simultaneously; the maximum level is limited by the source device itself.

Practical limits of the passive RCA interface

Being fully passive, the FV2 introduces no noise floor of its own, but cable length and source output impedance become the governing factors for high-frequency roll-off and noise pickup. Long interconnects or high-impedance sources may reduce treble extension, while very low-impedance loads can load the potentiometer and alter the taper.
