This module adds 48 ports of 1/10GbE SFP+ and two 100GbE MTP/MPO uplinks to an Arista 7500E series chassis. Under continuous traffic the line card forwards at line rate across all 48 SFP+ ports and both 100GbE uplinks without oversubscription. Because the module lacks hot-swap capability, a failure or upgrade demands chassis downtime, which affects overall availability during prolonged heavy utilisation.

Pre-deployment checks for the 7500E slot

Verify that the target chassis is an Arista 7500E series model and that a free line-card slot is available. Confirm that the change window accommodates a full power-down of the slot, as the card cannot be inserted or removed while the system is running. Ensure compatible SFP+ and MTP/MPO transceivers are on hand for the intended link distances.
