1/2 in Class 3000 forged steel union

This Anvil threaded union joins two sections of 1/2 in pipe with a black forged steel body rated to Class 3000. It uses female NPT threads and meets ASME B16.11, ASTM A106, B1.20.1 and MSS SP-83 standards. The fitting handles 2000 psi at 150 °F and 300 psi saturated steam at 550 °F.

Upgrade from lower-class or non-union fittings

Replaces a solid coupling or a lower-pressure union when the system demands Class 3000 strength and the ability to break the line without cutting pipe. The jump is worth it when design pressure approaches 2000 psi or when maintenance access at the joint is required. It is not for lines that exceed the 550 °F temperature ceiling or for installations that cannot accommodate the 1 15/16 in hex envelope.

Straightforward NPT make-up

Thread each end onto the mating pipe with standard NPT sealing practice and tighten the union nut to the 1 15/16 in hex. The two-piece union body allows disassembly without disturbing the pipe runs. Leaks usually come from insufficient thread sealant, damaged NPT threads or over-torquing the union nut beyond the forged steel rating.
