The Ambient Weather WS-2902 provides hyper-local conditions for homeowners and hobbyists who want real-time data from their own backyard. It measures wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, UV intensity, solar radiation, temperature and humidity with a wireless Osprey sensor array. The colour LCD console displays indoor and outdoor readings plus calculated dew point, wind chill and heat index. It suits anyone building a personal weather dashboard without relying on distant airport reports.

Sustained Wireless Operation

The sensor array transmits at 915 MHz up to 330 feet line of sight in open air, though 100 feet is typical under most conditions. Solid metal blocks the RF signal, so placement away from metal roofing or siding preserves the link. The console connects to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router for continuous uploads to the Ambient Weather Network and third-party services. Mains power for the display avoids battery drain during long-term logging, while the array runs on three AAA cells that last months per set.

Straightforward Mounting and Setup

The Osprey array includes a rain cup and mounts on a standard pole that is not supplied, so you must source a suitable mast and hardware. Aligning the wind vane to true north during installation ensures accurate direction readings. Calibration offsets for temperature, humidity and pressure are available in the console menus if sensors drift. The console requires a 2.4 GHz network; it will not join 5 GHz bands, which is the most common connection issue.
