Sustained tracing with adjustable sensitivity

The probe picks up the transmitter tone without touching the conductor, and a rotary control lets the user match volume and sensitivity to the environment. Continuity mode lights a red LED when a short or open circuit is detected, then tone mode can be used to follow the fault to its exact location. The transmitter requires two 9V batteries, which are not supplied with the kit.

Simple hook-up, limited voltage range

Alligator clips snap onto bare conductors or terminal screws, while the RJ11 plug inserts directly into a telephone jack for line-status checks. The instructions warn that the unit must not be used on live AC circuits or in commercial-building installations, so installers should verify the circuit is de-energised before connecting.
