What the D3V Is and Who It Serves

The Adam Audio D3V is a fully active desktop monitoring pair built for songwriters, producers and audio enthusiasts who want accurate sound without an external interface. Each speaker combines a 3.5" aluminum woofer with a 1.5" D-ART ribbon tweeter in a compact white enclosure. Dual 80W woofer amplifiers and dual 40W tweeter amplifiers drive the transducers directly for a self-contained reference system.

USB-C Input and Its Practical Limits

A single USB-C connection carries digital audio from a computer, tablet or phone and powers the internal DSP, removing the need for a separate audio interface. The link is fixed to that one digital path, so analogue sources, professional balanced lines or multi-channel setups require additional hardware not included in the system. Latency and sample-rate handling follow the host device’s USB audio implementation.

Capacity and Headroom in Real Use

Dual-sided passive radiators extend low-frequency response to 45 Hz while the ribbon tweeter reaches 23.2 kHz, covering the critical monitoring band for mixing and critical listening. Maximum output reaches 96 dB SPL per pair, which suits near-field positions at typical desktop distances. Larger rooms, higher SPL demands or sub-bass content below 45 Hz will exceed the system’s comfortable headroom.
