Direct thermal labels for industrial printers

These white direct thermal labels measure 2" x 1" and are supplied on rolls of 2300 labels with four rolls per carton, giving 9200 labels in total. They use a Fasson Direct-Therm 300LD facestock, a smooth non-topcoated bright white paper with a high-sensitivity thermal coating designed for dry environments. A general-purpose permanent emulsion acrylic adhesive provides excellent adhesion to corrugated cardboard and superior adhesion to plastics. The adhesive meets FDA CFR 175.105 requirements for indirect food contact.

Sustained printing performance

The high-sensitivity thermal coating maintains consistent print density during long print runs typical of industrial direct thermal printers. Because the facestock is non-topcoated, the thermal layer remains exposed; exposure to water, oil, alcohol or other liquids can degrade image quality over time, so the labels are intended for dry applications only. Perforations between labels support reliable separation during continuous high-volume dispensing without jamming.

Limits of direct thermal technology

Direct thermal printing requires no ribbon, ink or toner, which simplifies consumable management but means the printed image can darken or fade with prolonged heat, sunlight or abrasion. The adhesive is formulated for corrugated cardboard and plastics; other substrates such as curved, textured or heavily coated surfaces may not achieve the same bond strength. Buyers needing archival durability, colour printing or resistance to moisture and chemicals should consider thermal transfer or other label technologies.
