The WatchGuard Firebox T45-W-PoE is a tabletop firewall and wireless access point built for small offices and retail sites. It combines 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports with an integrated Wi-Fi 6 radio and one PoE+ port for powering peripherals. The unit ships with a 1 Year Basic Security Suite including logging, reporting and over 100 dashboards for compliance standards such as PCI and HIPAA.

Step up from basic router or older UTM

This appliance replaces a consumer-grade router or an aging UTM that cannot inspect encrypted traffic at line rate. The jump is worth it when you need gateway antivirus, intrusion prevention, application control, DNS filtering and cloud sandboxing in a single box without per-feature licences. It also adds zero-touch deployment so remote sites can be provisioned without on-site IT staff.

Limits of 1 GbE ports and Wi-Fi 6 radio

Aggregate firewall throughput reaches 3.94 Gbps, but each copper port caps at 1 Gbps so total WAN plus LAN traffic cannot exceed that per-port ceiling. The dual concurrent 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radios follow the 802.11ax standard, yet real-world wireless throughput will be lower than the wired backbone. The platform supports 30 Branch Office VPN tunnels and 3 850 000 simultaneous sessions, which defines the maximum site-to-site and connection capacity.
