Dual-Band Mobile Antenna for Amateur Transceivers

This magnetic-mount antenna covers the 144 MHz and 430 MHz amateur bands. It is built for operators using Retevis mobile transceivers such as the RT95, RT97, RT98, RT99, RB86, RA25, RT90, RT94, RT9550 and RT9000D. Gain Limits and Mounting Constraints

Stated gain is 2.15 dBi on the 144 MHz band and 3.5 dBi on the 430 MHz band. These figures represent the practical ceiling for a compact dual-band whip; additional range requires a larger antenna or higher mounting position. The magnetic base needs a flat ferrous surface such as a vehicle roof or trunk lid for secure attachment. Upgrading from a Stock Rubber Duck Antenna

This antenna replaces the short flexible antennas supplied with most handheld or mobile units. The jump is worthwhile when operating from a vehicle where a roof-mounted whip can exploit ground-plane effect and higher gain.
