Practical limits of a thread-on sunshade

The shade only blocks stray light that enters from angles outside the scope's field of view. It cannot eliminate glare caused by reflections inside the optical train or mirage from heat waves. Length is fixed, so the extension cannot be adjusted for changing sun angles. Adding the shade increases overall riflescope length, which may affect balance or fit in some scabbards.
