Flatback Tape for Sealing and Bundling

This Scotch 2517 flatback tape is designed for general sealing, bundling and packaging tasks in office, warehouse or workshop environments. The kraft paper backing provides a consistent surface for writing or labelling, while the 6.5 mil thickness offers reliable adhesion to corrugated cartons and similar materials. Each roll measures 2 inches wide by 60 yards long, and the pack contains 12 rolls for high-volume use.

Limits of Paper-Backed Adhesive Tape

The paper backing tears cleanly by hand but lacks the elongation and moisture resistance of plastic film tapes, so it is not suited for outdoor exposure or applications requiring stretch conformance. Adhesion performance can vary on dusty, oily or highly textured surfaces, and the tape may not hold on heavy loads that stress the paper substrate beyond its tensile strength. Temperature extremes can also affect bond durability over time.

Check Surface and Application Needs

Before ordering, confirm that the substrates you plan to seal are clean, dry and compatible with a rubber-based adhesive on kraft paper. Verify that a 2-inch width matches your dispenser or hand-tearing workflow and that 60-yard rolls fit your storage space. If you require waterproof sealing, high-shear strength or long-term outdoor performance, a different tape construction would be more appropriate.
