Compact hidden horn for small boats

The Schmitt & Ongaro Mini Compact Single Hidden Horn is a 12 V marine signalling device built for boats up to 12 metres. Its pre-wired design fits existing hole patterns so installation is straightforward. The 304 stainless steel trumpets, diaphragm and brackets resist corrosion in saltwater environments. It meets ABYC A-23 requirements for audible signalling.

Output under continuous use

The horn draws a maximum of 3 amps while producing a 105 dB tone at one metre. That sound level is maintained as long as the vessel’s electrical system can supply the rated current. The unit is noticeably louder than competitive models in the same class. No duty-cycle limitation is specified by the manufacturer.

Thermal noise and power profile

With a 3 amp draw at 12 V the electrical load is modest for most boat wiring harnesses. The compact stainless housing dissipates heat naturally during normal signalling bursts. Mechanical noise is limited to the horn tone itself; no cooling fan or moving parts add background sound. Dimensions are 7.5 x 8 x 4.5 cm for tight mounting spaces.
