Portable AM/FM radio for everyday listening

The Sangean PR-D5 BK is a compact digital stereo receiver that tunes both FM and AM bands with PLL synthesized accuracy. It stores five presets per band for quick access to favourite stations. The 3.2 inch backlit LCD shows station data, clock time and battery status in clear text. Simple rotary controls handle volume and tuning without menus.

Runs on mains or six C cells with modest draw

A 9 V 500 mA AC adapter powers the unit at home while six 1.5 V C batteries keep it portable for outdoor use. The built-in 2.5 inch stereo speakers deliver 1 W per channel, adequate for a kitchen, workshop or campsite. A 3.5 mm headphone jack allows private listening without disturbing others. No cooling fan means completely silent operation.

Bundled adapter and long ferrite bar improve

The included AC adapter removes the need to buy a separate power supply for mains use. A 200 mm ferrite AM antenna bar extends from the chassis to pull in distant medium-wave stations more reliably than a loopstick. An auxiliary input lets you play audio from a phone or player through the radio's speakers. The stereo/mono switch reduces hiss on weak FM signals.
