The Safety Technology International STI-9712 is a steel guard designed to shield photoelectric smoke detectors from vandalism and accidental damage. It mounts directly on the surface where the detector sits and includes the necessary hardware for installation. The white finish blends with standard ceiling or wall environments. MEA approval and UL listing confirm it meets recognised safety standards for this type of protective enclosure.

Upgrade From Exposed Detectors

This cover replaces an unprotected detector installation where the device is vulnerable to knocks, tampering or deliberate damage. The jump is worth it in schools, corridors, warehouses or any public area where the detector hangs within reach. Without the guard, a single impact can disable the sensor and leave the zone unmonitored until the next inspection. The steel construction absorbs impacts that would otherwise crack the detector housing.

Build Integration Requirements

The guard fits around an existing photoelectric smoke detector and secures to the mounting surface with the supplied hardware. It adds a low-profile steel cage measuring 7 3/8 inches wide, 7 3/8 inches deep and 4 7/8 inches high. No wiring changes or detector modifications are required. The cover frees maintenance staff from frequent detector replacements caused by physical abuse. It is not suited for environments requiring a fully enclosed, dust-proof or weather-sealed housing.
