PCIe x16 to U.2 adapter for NVMe and SAS drives

This PCIe x16 add-in card converts a full-length slot into a U.2 SFF-8639 bay so you can attach one 2.5-inch NVMe, SAS or SATA solid-state drive. Thermals and power in normal use

The adapter operates across a -40 to 85 °C range with no active cooling, relying on case airflow to keep the drive within limits. Because it is a passive riser, it adds no fan noise and draws only the 3.3 V supply from the slot plus whatever the attached U.2 SSD requires through the SATA power lead. PCIe Gen 3 x4 signalling runs at 32 GT/s, so the electrical load is modest and well within the slot’s rated delivery.

What the bundled connectors change

A single U.2 SFF-8639 receptacle and one SATA 15-pin power plug are the only onboard connections; no cables, brackets or software utilities are included. The SATA power connector lets you feed 5 V and 12 V to drives that need more than the bus can supply, while the x16 finger maintains mechanical stability in any x16, x8 or x4 slot. Without an extra drive or cable kit the card simply provides the electrical pathway — storage capacity and management remain entirely up to the chosen U.2 device.
