The construction uses 15 elements in 11 groups, including ED glass and Zero Coating to reduce flare and ghosting.
Weather-sealed lightweight barrel
Dust, splash and freezeproof sealing protects the mechanism in harsh conditions without adding bulk. The inner-focus design keeps the barrel length constant during zooming and focusing, so handling balance stays consistent. A 7-blade circular diaphragm produces smooth background blur when stopping down toward the minimum aperture of F22.
MSC autofocus for stills and video
