What the camcorder delivers

The Minolta MN4K300WP records 4K Ultra HD video and captures 56MP still images. A 3 IPS LCD screen provides live view and playback. The unit is fully waterproof to 16 feet, making it suitable for shallow underwater work. It is aimed at users who want a single rugged device for both video and high-resolution photos.

Limits of the waterproof rating

Waterproofing is rated to 16 feet and is not guaranteed beyond that depth. The 18x digital zoom enlarges the image electronically, so detail decreases as magnification increases. Anti-shake stabilization helps handheld footage but cannot replace a gimbal for long telephoto clips. Buyers needing deeper submersion or optical zoom should look elsewhere.

Build and daily handling

The sealed chassis protects the internals from water ingress at the rated depth. A fixed LCD means no articulated screen for awkward angles. Special modes such as Loop Recording, Time Lapse, Interval Photo, Photo Burst and Self Timer are accessed through the on-screen menu. The camcorder also functions as a webcam when connected to a computer via its data port.

Questions about this item

Should I prioritise the 56 MP stills or the 4K Ultra HD video mode for my shooting style?

Choose 56 MP stills when you need large prints or heavy cropping; choose 4K Ultra HD video when motion detail matters more than resolution.

What does the 18× digital zoom actually deliver when I am recording 4K Ultra HD footage?

The 18× digital zoom crops the sensor, so 4K Ultra HD footage loses detail as you zoom in; it is useful for framing but not for optical-quality close-ups.

How does the waterproof rating of 16 feet limit where I can take this camcorder?

The camcorder is rated for fresh water down to 16 feet; deeper dives, salt water or high-pressure jets exceed the seal specification.
