Audi OEM iPod/iPhone integration

This adapter connects an iPod or iPhone to the factory radio in Audi A2, A3, A4 and TT models from 2005 to 2006. It requires the vehicle to have a Mini-ISO plug on the original head unit. The interface lets you list and control mobile music through the CD changer or CDC controls on the OEM radio. It is aimed at owners who want to keep the stock dashboard look while using Apple devices.

Sustained charging behaviour

The unit supplies power through the original 12-volt vehicle circuit while the engine runs. For Apple devices that require a 5-volt charge input, the adapter alone does not step the voltage down; a separate 12-volt-to-5-volt converter is needed to maintain charge on newer models. Without that converter, older iPods and early iPhones will charge, but later devices will only play audio while the battery drains.

Installation constraints

Connection plugs into the CD changer port behind the radio, so the head unit must be removed to access the Mini-ISO socket. The vehicle must already have that specific plug; cars without it cannot use this adapter. No dashboard modification is required, but the separate voltage converter for newer Apple devices adds an extra wiring step and must be sourced separately.
