The Metra 89-9400 is a black dash installation kit designed for 1994-2004 Land Rover Discovery and Discovery II models. It provides a single DIN head unit provision so you can fit an aftermarket radio into the factory dashboard opening. The trim plate matches the interior colour and restores a finished look after the original stereo is removed.

Installation Behaviour and Fit

The plate mounts directly into the existing dashboard cavity without modification to the surrounding trim. Once secured, it holds a single DIN chassis firmly in place during vibration and temperature cycles typical of daily driving. No electronic interface is involved, so long-term behaviour depends only on the mechanical fit of the supplied bracket.

Compatibility Check Before Ordering

Confirm your vehicle is a Land Rover Discovery or Discovery II built between 1994 and 2004 inclusive. You will need the 86-9001 radio removal tool, sold separately, to release the factory head unit before fitting this trim plate. The kit includes the trim plate only; wiring harnesses, antenna adapters and mounting hardware for the new radio are not supplied.
