The 850 nm VCSEL laser and SFP28 electrical interface keep latency low and signal integrity stable during continuous traffic. No burst-only limitation applies; the link runs at full rate for as long as the switch port remains active.

SR optics limit reach to 100 metres on OM3/OM4

The short-range optical design caps the practical distance at 100 metres on standard multimode fibre; longer runs would require a different wavelength or single-mode module. The SFP28 form factor fits any compliant cage, but the SR specification means the transceiver cannot be used for extended-reach or long-haul links. Buyers needing kilometres of reach must select a separate LR or ER part.
