SFF-8482 SAS adapter for drive connectivity

This adapter converts a SFF-8482 22-pin SAS connector into separate 7-pin data and 15-pin power interfaces. It enables connection of SAS hard drives or SAS SSDs to a SAS-capable motherboard, and also allows SATA drives to connect to SATA motherboards. The 29-pin connector body carries two SAS lanes and dedicated power pins. It is designed for builders integrating enterprise drives into compatible host systems.

Splits data and power for direct drive attachment

The adapter separates the combined SAS interface into a standard 7-pin data cable connection and a 15-pin SATA power port. This lets you use common SATA power cables from your power supply to run the drive. No additional software or drivers are included; the hardware simply passes signals between matching controller and drive interfaces. It does not add RAID functionality on its own.

Verify motherboard and drive interface

This adapter cannot connect a SAS drive to a standard SATA motherboard unless the motherboard includes a SAS chipset. Likewise, it cannot connect a SATA drive to a standard SAS motherboard unless the drive itself has a SAS chipset. Check that both your host controller and the target drive support the same protocol before ordering. The adapter only works when both ends natively speak SAS or both speak SATA.
