This PCI Express card adds a single U.2/U.3 SFF-8639 interface to a motherboard through a PCIe 4.0 x1 slot. It is designed for connecting U.2 or U.3 NVMe SSDs such as the PM1735 series. The adapter performs a physical form conversion without altering signal properties. It operates transparently to the operating system and requires no software drivers.

For NVMe U.2/U.3 drives only

The card suits builders who need to attach enterprise U.2 or U.3 NVMe SSDs to a consumer or workstation board. It does not support SATA or SAS SSDs, so buyers with those drive types must look elsewhere. The single PCIe 4.0 x1 link limits total bandwidth to one lane, which may not suit users needing full x4 NVMe throughput. Systems without a free PCIe x1 slot cannot use this adapter.

Sustained operation over x1 lane

Under continuous load the adapter passes data at the speed allowed by the PCIe 4.0 x1 electrical connection. Thermal behaviour depends on the host slot airflow and the attached SSD's own heat dissipation. No active cooling is present on the adapter itself. The U.3 tri-mode capability allows hot-swap between NVMe, SAS and SATA drives when firmware supports it, though this card only functions with NVMe drives.
