This Legend Valve 104-604 is a 3/4-inch S-415 bronze gate valve designed for controlling water flow in residential and light commercial supply lines. It uses an inserted bonnet construction with a solid bronze body suited for potable water systems. The valve operates via a handwheel that raises or lowers a wedge gate to stop or allow flow. It is intended for installers who need a traditional shut-off device rather than a quarter-turn ball valve.

Threaded Installation and System Isolation

The valve connects to piping using standard NPT threads on both ends, requiring pipe dope or tape for a watertight seal. It fits directly into 3/4-inch copper, brass, or galvanised steel pipelines without adapters. The gate mechanism provides full bore flow when open, minimising pressure drop across the valve. It frees up the line for maintenance downstream by offering a positive shut-off point, though it does not regulate flow in intermediate positions.

Replacing Worn Gate Valves in Existing Systems

This unit replaces older bronze gate valves of the same nominal size and thread pattern when seats or stems have corroded. The jump is worth it when the existing valve no longer closes tightly or the handwheel turns without moving the gate.
