Dual-bay USB charger for Canon BP-511 series

The Kastar LTD2 accepts two BP-511 or BP-511A packs simultaneously and swaps plates for other listed Canon batteries. It draws 5 V at up to 3 A through either Micro-USB or USB-C, so it works with common power banks and wall adapters. An LCD panel shows real-time capacity for each bay. Photographers and videographers using compatible EOS, PowerShot or Optura bodies can keep spares ready without a proprietary AC brick.

The unit runs from a 15 W USB source and delivers 4.2 V at 800 mA per bay when charging one battery, splitting the same current across both bays when two are inserted. No fan is present, so operation is silent. The compact 5 by 3 by 1 inch housing stays cool during typical top-up cycles because the charge rate is modest and the circuitry is low-loss.

Behaviour under sustained load rather than

During extended dual-bay sessions the charger maintains a steady 800 mA total output, so each cell receives 400 mA once the second bay is occupied. The LCD continues to report individual capacity without flicker. There is no thermal throttle or audible alert; the design simply sustains the lower per-bay current until both packs reach 4.2 V. Users needing faster single-bay charging must use a higher-current USB source, which this device does not negotiate.
