The Hubbell Series 16 male receptacle is rated for 400 A connections and 600 V AC or 250 V DC. It accepts #4 AWG to 4/0 AWG wire sizes and mates with corresponding female taper nose connectors. The device is UL Listed and cUL Listed, meeting ANSI/NFPA 70 and UL 1691 standards. It is intended for indoor dry locations unless otherwise protected.

Sustained 400 A load performance

The receptacle supports continuous operation at 400 A AC or DC within its 600 V AC and 250 V DC ratings. Brass conductor contacts and a thermoplastic elastomer housing maintain conductivity and insulation integrity under prolonged high-current demand. NEMA Type 12, 3R and 4X enclosure ratings confirm resistance to dust, dripping water and hose-directed water during extended use. The straight double set screw terminals provide secure conductor retention without degradation over time.

Straightforward bus bar mounting

Threaded hole mounting with included screw hardware allows direct attachment to bus bars or panels. Double set screw terminals accommodate the full #4 AWG to 4/0 AWG range without special tooling beyond standard hex keys. Installers must verify that the mating female connector matches the Series 16 taper nose profile; mismatched series will not engage. The housing is not rated for continuous outdoor exposure without additional protection.
