The Hayward SB1400S18 is a single basket strainer built for 4 in socket connections in PVC piping systems. It is not for systems requiring flanged or threaded connections or for pipe sizes other than 4 in.

0.13 in Mesh Screen with 150 psi Rating

The PVC screen uses a .13 in mesh opening to capture particles while maintaining flow through the 16 in basket area. At 100 deg F the housing handles 125 psi, while the overall pressure rating reaches 150 psi at lower temperatures. The 22 in overall height provides settling space for captured solids. It is not for processes exceeding 70 deg F or pressures above the stated limits.

PVC Socket Connection Limits

The socket style solvent welds directly to 4 in PVC pipe, creating a permanent joint that cannot be rotated after cure. The PVC housing and screen share the same 70 deg F maximum temperature, so the assembly cannot handle hot water or steam lines. Pressure capacity drops from 150 psi to 125 psi as temperature approaches the 100 deg F test point. It is not for metal piping, high temperature service, or applications requiring union style disassembly.
