Upgrade from standard PLA when wood aesthetics

Standard PLA cannot replicate the sandy, wood-like surface this filament produces, so the jump is worthwhile when visual texture is a priority. The material prints at typical PLA temperatures but requires a 0.4 mm or larger nozzle to avoid clogging from the wood fibres. It is not for users who need high mechanical strength or heat resistance beyond ordinary PLA.

Behaviour during long prints

Wood fibre makes the filament more hygroscopic than plain PLA, so drying at 60 °C for at least 8 hours before use prevents stringing and popping during extended sessions. Printing in fully enclosed chambers or ambient temperatures above 32 °C can cause heat creep and extruder clogs, so keeping the printer open is advised. Disabling the slicer feature that reduces speed on small layers also helps maintain consistent flow over many hours.
