Acrylic Adhesive Temperature Limits

The acrylic adhesive functions across a range of -22 to 302 degrees Fahrenheit. Outside this window the bond may weaken or the film may degrade, so the tape is unsuitable for continuous service beyond these extremes. The 2.4 mil thickness and 90 percent elongation allow conformity without sacrificing the 23 lbs/in tensile strength. Applications demanding higher temperature tolerance or a different adhesive system will require another product.

A tensile strength of 23 lbs per inch determines whether this tape can handle the mechanical load in web splicing or hinge reinforcement. The 27 oz/in adhesion and 2.4 mil film thickness support that strength but do not replace it as the limiting factor. If the design load exceeds this value, the tape is not the right choice. Engineers specifying lower-strength tapes for lighter duty should select a different grade.
