Pump type and intended use

The Dayton 4HU80 is a manual submersible sewage pump rated at 1/2 HP for 115 V single-phase supply. It handles solids up to 2 in diameter and is built with a cast-iron body, cast-iron impeller and carbon-ceramic shaft seal. The hermetically sealed, oil-filled motor suits residential or light-commercial waste-water lifting where automatic switching is provided separately. It is not for clean-water circulation, high-head dewatering or installations that require an integrated float switch.

Capacity and headroom

Flow rates are 111 gpm at 10 ft of head, 85 gpm at 15 ft and 43 gpm at 20 ft, showing strong output at low head that drops sharply as lift increases. The 12.00 A draw at 120 V AC gives a clear electrical load figure for circuit planning. The pump will not suit applications needing sustained flow above 20 ft of head or solids larger than the rated 2 in passage.

Thermals, noise and power draw

The oil-filled, hermetically sealed motor dissipates heat directly into the pumped liquid, so running temperatures stay stable during normal cycles. Submerged operation keeps airborne noise low compared with dry-mounted units. Continuous current is 12.00 A at 120 V, giving a predictable power profile for the supply circuit.
