Cleveland
Forms M3x0.5 metric threads in a 2.75 mm hole with a 7.94 mm thread length and 49.21 mm overall length
The Cleveland C59421 is a thread forming tap designed to create internal threads in ductile materials by displacing metal rather than cutting it. It suits maintenance technicians and assembly operators who require strong, chip-free threads in M3x0.50 sizes without the clearance issues of cut taps.
The bottoming chamfer provides only a short lead of one to two threads, so the tap cannot start a new thread in a blind hole without a pre-threaded starter or a through-hole entry. Users must begin the thread with a taper or plug tap, or ensure the hole is already started, before switching to this tool for full-depth forming.
The tap forms a 6H class fit using a 2.75 mm drill size to achieve approximately 75 percent thread engagement, delivering high pull-out strength in aluminium, brass or mild steel. It runs out of effective forming capability in harder alloys or materials above the recommended hardness range where displacement becomes excessive.

It forms M3 threads with a 0.50 mm pitch, giving a 75 percent thread depth when used with a 2.75 mm drill.
The 7.94 mm thread length limits each pass to that depth; the 49.21 mm overall length provides shank reach beyond the cut.
The uncoated high-speed steel works best in softer metals; stainless steel may require a coated tap for longer life.
