Extra-fine copper braid with non-activated rosin flux removes solder from large pads in a 100 ft roll
Chemtronics 50-4-100 is a pure copper wicking braid designed to absorb molten solder from large pads. The extra-fine blue braid measures .110 inches wide and comes on a 100 ft spool. It suits technicians who need reliable solder removal in through-hole or high-mass joints.
The wick is coated with non-activated white rosin flux that meets MIL-F-14256F type R standards. This flux activates during heating to promote fast solder uptake and remains inert after cooling. RoHS compliance confirms the materials meet restricted-substance requirements for electronics work.
A single spool supports many desoldering sessions on large pads before replacement. The braid is not compatible with lead-free solder alloys, so users working with lead-free processes must select a different flux formulation. Width is fixed at .110 inches and cannot be changed for finer pitch work.

The 100 ft length provides a long supply; each section is used once and discarded after absorbing solder, so replacement depends on your desoldering volume.
The flux coating meets MIL-F-14256F type R and leaves no corrosive residue, so the practical limit is the speed at which you can feed fresh braid onto the joint.
The non-activated white rosin flux generates typical soldering fumes; the fine copper braid conducts heat away quickly, keeping the work area cooler during extended sessions.
