Sustained shooting behaviour

Continuous drive runs at up to 3 fps until the buffer fills, then slows to the card write speed. Live-view contrast-detection focuses accurately for video but is slower than the viewfinder phase-detect system. The 3.0 920k-dot screen remains usable for composition during long sessions, though it does not articulate. Battery life follows CIPA ratings for entry DSLRs.

Upgrade path and limits

The 18-55mm covers wide to short telephoto but lacks constant aperture and weather sealing.
