Bunting bronze sleeve bearing 1 in bore

The Bunting CB162208 is a plain bronze sleeve bearing with a 1 in bore and 1 3/8 in outside diameter. It is made from C93200 cast bronze, also known as SAE 660, and supplied in a pack of three. Maintenance teams and machine shops use it for rotary or oscillating motion where a simple, durable journal bearing is required. The non-flanged design suits housings that retain the bearing by press fit or external collars.

Temperature range and load headroom

The bearing operates continuously from -450 °F to 500 °F, giving wide headroom for cryogenic equipment or high-heat machinery. Bronze construction provides good wear resistance and conformability under moderate loads and speeds. It runs out when speeds or loads exceed the material’s PV limits, or when a flanged design is needed for axial location. Length tolerance is held to +/- 0.005 in for consistent fit.

Upgrade from plastic or softer metal bushings

This bearing replaces nylon, PTFE or sintered iron bushings when higher temperature capability or better load distribution is needed. The jump is worth it when operating temperatures approach the limits of polymer materials or when the application demands the proven wear characteristics of SAE 660 bronze. It does not serve applications requiring integrated flanges, rolling-element precision, or corrosion resistance beyond standard bronze alloys.
